Trenton
Trenton, the county seat of Dade County, was first settled in the 1830s and was called Salem. The city, incorporated February 18, 1854, was later renamed Trenton in honor of industrial engineers from Trenton, New Jersey who came in search of coal and iron.
Trenton hosts the Dade County Days held each May, which features food, crafts and entertainment. In the late 1890s, Dade County built a new courthouse, jail and library in downtown Trenton. The old courthouse, a 1926 brick structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places, still stands at the center of the town square.
Trenton welcomes the 2007 Tour de Georgia and is home to the 4th and final King of the Mountain on the Stage 3, Rome to Chattanooga course.  Burkhalter Gap!  Long known as the heart-breaking finish to the classic 3 State 3 Mountain Challenge, this could be the decisive climb for the 2007 Tour de Georgia.  Now you too can ride the pro course with a special time trial stage just for you, the amateur rider.  The adventure begins at Piney Grove Baptist Church at the base of Lookout Mountain in Trenton.  Your performance could win a grand prize of $100 for the best time, then sit back and watch the pros at work.

Prize Awarded - Best Time: $100.00
Sprint Burkhalter Gap earlier in the afternoon prior to the King of the Mountain (KOM) Event held for the premier professional cyclists as part of Stage 3 of the 2007 Tour de Georgia.
All proceeds benefit the Dade County Animal Shelter.

The Dade County Chamber of Commerce is presenting the first Dade County Tour de Georgia Events.  Retailers, community resource providers, financial institutions, schools, and all other businesses are encouraged to participate in the event.  Spaces are limited, so please register early.
