Soldier Ride Visits Chattanooga

Soldier Ride will be arriving in Chattanooga on May 31, 2006 for an overnight stop.  Each year, since 2004, Soldier Ride has assisted in the rehabilitation of severely injured servicemen and women by sponsoring a cross country bicycling event to raise funds and public awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project.   This year's cross country ride began on May 8, 2006 in Montauk, New York, and will end in July in San Diego, California.  Many wounded servicemen and women will participate in the ride, cycling, while missing one of more limbs.  Soldier Ride provides each of these brave young men and women with the equipment and training they need to accomplish this mission.
The stop in Chattanooga will be Soldier Ride’s first ever stop in Tennessee.  A welcoming event at Coolidge Park has been arranged for the injured servicemen and women.  This event has been tentatively scheduled to begin at 6:00 P.M.  The general public is invited to attend to show support for our wounded heroes.
Bicyclists who wish to ride through Chattanooga with the wounded soldiers will meet at the Incline Railway parking lot, 3917 St Elmo Avenue at 5:00 PM.
