The Chattanooga
Urban Area Bicycle Task Force is proud to announce the kick-off of
Bike2Work 2005. In partnership with the Chattanooga- Hamilton
County Regional Planning Agency, the Chattanooga-Hamilton County
Health Department and the Chattanooga Bicycle Club, our first event
will be this Friday, May 6th,
2005. Bike2Work continues on the first Friday of every
month through October. We encourage everyone to use this day
as an opportunity to park their car and ride their bike to
work.
Join us between
7:00 AM and 8:30 AM at Miller Park for breakfast and
prizes. Ride on your own or join one of our groups leaving
from Coolidge Park (7:00 AM), The Tennessee River Walk (7:00 AM),
or the Incline Railway parking lot (7:00
AM).
CARTA will be
supporting Bike2Work with their own Rack & Ride Program.
Every CARTA mainline and neighborhood route bus is equipped to
carry two bicycles, so it’s easy to extend your bike range
throughout Chattanooga. Come by Miller Park for a hands-on
demonstration of how easy it is to load your bike! Visit
www.carta- bus.org for complete details on routes and
schedules.
Riding your bike can
improve your health, reduce air pollution and traffic congestion
and save you money. Just commuting one day a week could
reduce your gas and parking costs by 20%! If you need
to learn more about routes, parking or other issues, visit Bike
Chattanooga at www.bikechattanooga.org. If you are an employer and want to learn
how to promote bicycling as a benefit for your employees, please
contact us directly.
There is still time
to register for our next Road I effective cycling course which will
be held May 14- 15th at Chattanooga State. You too
can learn how to ride comfortably and safely all across
Chattanooga.
Thanks to all of our
sponsors and especially:
